Life Matters, Lent is Coming, and Emmaus is Back!

You will soon hear again from our dedicated ProLife Ministry about a March for Life to be held on March 23 in Hartford. While it is likely that Roe v. Wade will be overturned, the shift of decision making back to individual states is not a signal to celebrate and move on. The fight to bring an end to abortion will move from Washington to state capitals. Come to our information evening on March 12 and join me in Hartford on Wednesday, March 23. More information is available in this bulletin.

Believe it or not, March 2 is Ash Wednesday! Ready or not, Lent is upon us, but don’t panic; instead, make the decision now to enter into this season of penance and preparation for Easter by making a reasonable plan to pray, fast, and give. The popular “Little Black Book” of prayerful reflections is available for the taking on tables in the back of the church. The book provides an opportunity to frame your day with the Word of God. In addition, please take one of the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowls, and make a commitment to share your treasure in an act of sacrifice for our sisters and brothers who are in need.

The Emmaus Retreat weekend for teens commences on March 4. It’s been a while since we have been able to hold the retreat, so please pray for the candidates and team members as we step away from the world for a few days to draw closer to Christ. May God bless you with a fruitful Lent – Father Rob
