Our future priests receive exceptional formation, support, and education as they pursue their call to serve God and His Church. Over a process that typically takes between seven and nine years, our men are formed in the spiritual life, pastoral care, and self-knowledge. They are instructed in the rich history of our Catholic theological tradition, ultimately leading to a master’s degree in theology before Ordination.

Through your generous gift to the Bishop’s Appeal, the Diocese is better able to support men who are discerning priesthood, so they may respond generously and courageously to that call and serve you as good and faithful shepherds.

Your support of the Bishop’s Appeal is an investment in hope, healing, and renewal. It enables us to:

• Launch transformative ministries, including the Stephen Ministry, which offers care for individuals facing life’s challenges, and the Diocese of Bridgeport Guilds, which deepen Christian discipleship and provide networks of support around common professions and interests.
• Support pastoral care and outreach, such as chaplains and ministers who bring Christ’s mercy and love to the sick and suffering.
• Empower future generations through seminarian and diaconate education, youth and parent formation programs, and the Bishop’s Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance for Catholic education.
• Provide critical assistance through Catholic Charities, delivering food, shelter, and hope to those in need.
