Jeremiah the prophet speaks of a way of living with the Lord in trust and hope:
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
whose hope is the LORD.
He is like a tree planted beside the waters
that stretches out its roots to the stream:
it fears not the heat when it comes;
its leaves stay green;
in the year of drought it shows no distress,
but still bears fruit.”
One of the reasons for our restlessness, anxiety, and just feeling “blah” is that we do not fully commit to living a blessed life in Jesus. Because we have become so skeptical, we don’t always trust God enough to give us what we need. Who better than God to take loving care of what He created? Who better than Jesus to calm the storms of our lives just by being in the “boat” with us? Blessed are we who are loved into being by God. Blessed are we when we let go of the apprehensions that come from what we hear about the world; leave those worries aside and put our all our hope and trust in Jesus. Pray this week for the grace to celebrate how blessed you are to be a child of God. Use these words of Jeremiah – and those of Jesus from his sermon on the plain — to help guide your prayer, and watch what happens when you put all your trust in the Lord who blesses us.
May God bless you always!
