“Welcome Weekend”

This weekend we welcome Deacon Michael Crane to
the staff of Saint Aloysius Parish. Michael will join
Deacon Bill in the important ministry that deacons
provide to our parish family. Deacons assist at Mass,
witness marriages, baptize, and provide pastoral
accompaniment. We have a thriving diaconal ministry
in our diocese, and we are blessed with two gifted
deacons here at Saint Aloysius.

In addition to his parish responsibilities, Deacon
Michael will serve as Vice Chancellor of the Diocese
of Bridgeport. In that office, he will assist the
Diocesan Tribunal in the processing of various cases
and serve as a special assistant to Bishop Caggiano. It
just so happens that Deacon Michael’s office is next to
mine at the Catholic Center, and he is a great
neighbor!

We also welcome Bishop Frank this weekend to help
us celebrate the Feast of Saint Aloysius and bless our
new building. I am very grateful to the Bishop for
supporting us as we embarked on this adventure
several years ago, and I am deeply grateful to all of you
– an inspiring parish family of faith – for your
generosity, ideas, patience, and prayerful support. I
believe we have created a beautiful new campus that
offers the space we need to do what God asks us to do
every day. This weekend the bishop will bless the
buildings and grounds. In October (close to the Feast
of Saint Carlo), we will consecrate the St. Carlo Acutis
Chapel and dedicate the buildings. In the weeks ahead
I will announce the naming of the building,
gymnasium and classrooms and we will publish the
roll of donors.

Happy Father’s Day, Happy Feast Day, and Happy
Summer!

With heartfelt gratitude,
