What Our Teens Believe about the Eucharist

Each year we invite some of our teens to become Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. As part of that invitation and training we ask these young disciples to tell us why the Eucharist is special to them and how serving as an Extraordinary Minister means for their faith life. I’ve presented below some of our teens’ reflections. If you want to experience hopefulness and learn about the power of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharistic, keep reading!

I feel the Eucharist is special to me because of its unique position in the church as a physical connection to God. I think that gives it special weight in our faith as a true representation of God’s love for us and I think serving as a minister of Holy Communion will let me connect more deeply with it and my personal faith.

We are blessed to receive the true presence of Jesus Christ into our bodies. For me personally, receiving the Eucharist weekly is a constant reminder that my body is a temple of the Lord, and I want to share this gift with others when serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

The Eucharist is special to me because receiving it is a way to physically encounter Jesus and witness a miracle every Sunday at Mass.

The Eucharist is special to me because it shows me that God is always with me and watching over me through thick and thin. It’s a constant reminder that He will be present in my life, and I can put my faith in Him.

Receiving and sharing the Body of Christ is a powerful reminder that God wants to be close to us and dwell within us. Being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is a privilege, and I believe it will deepen my faith, help me grow in reverence for the Mass, and give me the chance to serve others in a meaningful and sacred way.

I have now learned just how important the Eucharist truly is and how it is a gift for us to receive it every Sunday.

I think of the Eucharist as the best and most effective medicine, a panacea for all woes. Whether I am having a great day or a bad one, immediately after Communion, I feel instantly better, happier, freer, and lighter. I would like nothing more than to be able to help others achieve this feeling. It also stands as the greatest sacrifice in human history and of course, I want to be a first-hand witness to this mystery.

The Eucharist so important to me because it is God himself. Like Carlo Acutis, I believe every time we consume the blessing of the Eucharist, we become closer to God and more like him. It is an insanely surreal experience we get to witness and live every week. We are in the presence of Jesus Christ.

The Eucharist is a constant reminder of Jesus’ life and sacrifices that he made for our sake. It is amazing that we get to receive the true body of Christ, and I love being able to share that gift with others.

It is such a special sacrament that I am honored to be a Minister of Holy Communion. It would remind me to live with humility, respect, and love, since I would be entrusted with something so sacred.

Have a blessed week!
