2023 - 2024 Religious Education

Online registration for the 2023-2024 year is closed.

If you want to register your child for grades Pre-K (age 4) to grade 8 you must contact the office either by calling Danielle Sibilia at 203-652-1171 or emailing directorreligioused@starcc.com. Anyone who wants to register now, with the exception of new parishioners, will be charged a late fee. 

Classes are set to start on September 10, 2023 and end on April 7, 2024.

New this year we will be opening Religious Education instructions up to Pre-K.

Our Religious Education program is for grades Pre-K (age 4) to 8th grade.

Religious Education Options

Options for Pre-K to grade 2

  • 8:45am – 9:45am (Sundays at South School)
  • 11:15am – 12:15pm (Sundays at South School)

Options for grades 3 to 6

  • 8:45am – 9:45am (Sunday at South School)
  • 11:15am – 12:15pm (Sunday at South School)
  • Choir & Religion (Tuesday in Stapleton Hall/Church from 4:00pm to 5:15pm)


    Last year was our first year offering our Choir & Religion class. This was a partnership between Religious Education and the St. Aloysius Music Ministry.  If you are signing up for this option please note the following:

    • The class is limited to 50 students in Grades 3 through 6.
    • The students must have completed 1st and 2nd grade and made their Communion.
    • In addition to attending the weekly classes, you will be required to sing at one scheduled 10am Mass per month.
    • Youth Choir will sing at special Christmas and Easter Concerts/Masses.
    • Students who register for this class will be required to attend a scheduled “Meet & Greet Audition” prior to the start of classes to ensure this class is the right fit!
  • Homeschool

Options for grade 7

When registering select the option which is available in the system of L1 7th Grade Confirmation.  Marie Osterndorf (confirmation@starcc.com) will be in touch sometime in August to place your child in a class.

Options for grade 8

Even though your child remains in the same class they were in for 7th grade you must register and select the option of L2 8th Grade Confirmation.

Enrollment Prerequisites

Parents – if your child is new to our program and was not Baptized at St. Aloysius you have to send me a copy of their Baptismal form before classes start.

Please also complete the Diocese Annual Consent form and email it back to Danielle Sibilia after you register.

Tuition must be paid at the time of registration.  Paying tuition only does not constitute registration for your child.  Any outstanding tuitions must be paid in full prior to your child enrolling in the upcoming year.

2023-24 Religious Education FAQ

When is registration opening and closing?
  • Opening – Monday, May 22, 2023
  • Closed as of Friday, June 9, 2023
What are our learning options this year?
  • We will have in person classes this autumn.  All Sunday classes will be held at South School 8 Farm Road, New Canaan. You may choose from the following time slots 8:45am – 9:45am or 11:15am – 12:15pm. Your selection is the time you will attend all year long.
  • For grades 3 through 6 we also have a Choir and Religion class which will meet on Tuesdays.  Time is 4:00pm to 5:15pm.  This is the only options that will meet on the Church property.  This option is only for students who have completed 1st and 2nd grade and made their Communion.
  • We are also offering a homeschool option.  Students and parents will be asked to sign an agreement stating that they will complete the lessons on a weekly basis and submit them to Danielle Sibilia at directorreligioused@starcc.com.
  • There will be no remote or zoom option.
What is the tuition for this year?
  • 1 child = $350
  • 2 children = $475
  • 3 or more children = $600
  • Homeschool = $40 per child
  • Late fee = $50 (if you do not register and pay by June 9, 2023)
How do I calculate tuition if I have an in-person student and homeschool students?
1 child at $350 + 2 Homeschool children at $40 calculates as: $350+80= $430.
Any guides to help me in the process?
Can I still register after the deadline?
Yes, but you must call the office and speak to Danielle Sibilia to coordinate.  Late registrations, unless you’re a new parishioner, will incur a $50 late fee.
What safety measures are we taking?
We will be following all Diocese of Bridgeport safety guidelines.  Specific details will be communicated to parents prior to the start of classes.
What if I don’t remember my username?
Please email Danielle at directorreligioused@starcc.com and request your username.
What if I don’t remember my password?
You can request a reset on the Parishsoft website using your username.
Can I register in person?
No, registration is done online only, but we are happy to walk you through it if you have difficulty following the online instructions or don’t have access to a computer.
When will I get my class assignment?
A letter will be mailed to you with class assignments the last week of August.
When do classes start and end?
Classes start on Sunday, September 10, 2023 and end on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
What happens if I select a time when I register and then I find out that time doesn’t work?
Please email Danielle at directorreligioused@starcc.com to inform her as soon as possible of the change.
What impact will the change in school start time have to our program?
None.
Will I be able to change my child’s time midyear, if we have an activity that comes up?
No.  Classes are assigned at the beginning of the school year and will not be altered.
What are the steps to register?
Check the parish website under Religious Education online registration.
Do I have to pay tuition at the time I register?
Yes, at the end of your registration there is a link to pay. It’s a separate portal that goes directly to our parish website or… Here is the link to bring you straight to the payment page.
The amount is blank when I go to the payment window, is that correct?
Yes, the amount is blank and you must manually type in the tuition you are paying.  Please refer to the FAQ regarding tuition amounts above.
How do I pay tuition?
  • At the end of your registration there is a link that says “PAY NOW”. Click that and it will bring you to the payment portal.  It’s a portal on our parish website.
  • If you don’t click it directly after registration you can click here to find it again.
  • Manually enter the amount you are paying for tuition along with your child(ren) names.
  • Add to the basket.
  • Click on the basket in the upper right hand corner and finish the steps to check out.
If my child was baptized at St. Aloysius do you need their baptismal certificate?
No, only students who were baptized at a parish other than St. Aloysius need to provide us with a copy of their child’s baptismal certificate.
My child is in 8th grade. Do I still have to register them even though they were assigned in 7th grade to a Catechist and a day?
  • Yes, all students must be registered in our system regardless of grade.
  • Your 8th grader will continue on in the same class with the same Catechist.
We missed a year or more of Religious Education what do we do?
  • Religious Education starts in grade 1. We are opening our program to Pre-K (age 4) this year but it’s not a requirement to attend Pre-K or Kindergarten. If your child has missed 1st grade Religious Education and they are currently going into 2nd grade, please sign them up for 1st grade Religious Education.  We can discuss catching up after they make their Sacrament.
